Description of Services:
Information and Referral The Alzheimer's Association Helpline operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in 140 languages. Our staff is highly trained and knowledgeable about all aspects of Alzheimer’s disease. Call us if you have questions about: Alzheimer’s disease or memory loss, medications and treatment options, brain health and care options; how the Association can help you; caregiving tips and respite care options; and services/resources available in your community. You can also call us for emotional support as often as you need. We know that living with Alzheimer’s can be overwhelming at times. Remember, we are here for you - all day, every day. Care Consulation This service is designed to assist the person with Alzheimer's and their family in planning for and dealing with all aspects of the illness including needs assessment, planning and problem solving. Call to schedule a meeting to develop a comprehensive plan. Support Groups Monthly gatherings of family, friends and caregivers that provide an opportunity for socializing, discussing and suporting one another on Alzheimer's related issues. MedicAlert + Safe Return The Alzheimer's Association and MedicAlert have formed an alliance to improve the safety of individuals with Alzheimer's or a related dementia. Caregivers can call the 24 hour emergency response line to report a wandering/lost incident. Please call 1-888-572-8566 to enroll. Education and Training An array of educational programs designed to equip the diagnosed individual, family members and professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to enhance the quality of life of individuals with dementia. We also maintain a variety of educational materials (brochures, videos, audiotapes and books) on topics related to Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders. Message boards The Alzheimer’s Association message boards and chat rooms provide an online community for persons with Alzheimer's, caregivers and care providers. Our message boards have thousands of registered members from around the United States and thousands more who refer to the stories and information that is available 24 hours a day. Clinical Trials TrialMatch™ is a free service that makes it easy for people with Alzheimer's, caregivers, families and physicians to locate clinical trials based on personal criteria (diagnosis, stage of disease) and location. Many research studies pertaining to Alzheimer's disease and related dementias are recruiting volunteers. TrialMatch lets you search these trials quickly and easily and narrows results to those trials where there is a reasonable chance to be accepted for enrollment.
